Harvesting RainThe Phinney Center is harvesting rainwater to flush toilets. Seattle Public Utilities donated six tanks worth $6,000 to the PNA to demonstrate the viability of rainwater harvesting. The tanks range in size from 1000 to 2500 gallons with a combined capacity of 7850 gallons of potential storage.

We drink very little of our drinking waterLess than 1% of the treated water produced by water utilities is actually consumed. The rest goes on lawns, in washing machines, and down toilets and drains.We expect to save over 30,000 gallons of potable water per year while demonstrating and educating visitors about the ecological and economic benefits of rainwater harvesting How does it work?
